About Cameron Kielb

My Life

I grew up in the small but mighty town DeKalb Illinois. (Famous for barb wire?) As a kid I enjoyed reading a lot. I remember the thrilling feeling of being taken to another world by the words on the pages before me. I can’t tell you how many times I read Harry Potter… Perhaps it was a problem. I suppose there’s a reason it’s called a fantasy book.

I had always wanted to write too, but the truth of the matter was that it was too much work for this immature boy. Patience, discipline, and an eye for grammar were not my strong suits.

Slowly but surely, though, this boy turned a page and while attending nursing school in college, I allowed myself to grow into a man not afraid to take on challenges. Somehow I blinked and suddenly had a wife, kids, and family to take care of. Really, just like that.

I work as a nurse in the suburbs of Chicago and spend as much time with my family as I can. But through it all, I continue to read and write. I enjoy writing fiction– sci-fi, fantasy, ect. and hope to one day be able to take my readers to a world that they can get lost in, just as I had when I was a boy.

With that in mind, I do feel a strong social obligation to today’s events. Topics such as acceptance for one another and a green environment have a way of creeping into my works.

Aside from my time spent with my family, working, reading, and writing, I enjoy staying active with exercise, sports–including golf (don’t tell me it’s not a sport! You try it), and basically anything outdoors.
